BALTIMORE -- Right-hander Trevor Cahill won't make his scheduled start in St. Petersburg this weekend, instead returning to the opposite coast for an MRI.
The A's veteran has been dealing with a rhomboid muscle issue, according to manager Bob Melvin, who anticipates using an opener in his stead Saturday.
"Hopefully it's just a muscular thing," Melvin said. "Felt it last time out, so we're going to send him back. He's had some trouble in certain areas before, so we want to make sure we cover our bases.
