MEMPHIS – The University of Memphis women's tennis team will do a Texas swing this weekend, playing three matches in three days, including a conference-opening match at SMU, Saturday. Memphis will open the three-day trip at #73 ranked North Texas, Friday, at 3 p.m., then will play its first conference match of the season at SMU, Saturday, at noon. The trip will wrap up Sunday, at #48 ranked Texas-Arlington at 11 a.m.
Memphis has been short-handed of late, losing both and to injury. That means the five-player roster starts each match down 1-0 with no number six singles entry, but that didn't prevent Memphis from almost upending Middle Tennessee last Sunday, falling 4-3.
