MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After playing extra-innings in the first two games of the series with Eastern Illinois, Memphis left no doubt and won the finale, 23-0, Sunday at FedExPark. The Tigers (8-11) scored the 23 runs on 19 hits with four doubles, three triples and two home runs.
The scoring output and margin of victory was the largest for Memphis since 2003 when the Tigers beat UT Martin 24-1.
The Tigers started the game with a bang, putting up an eight-run bottom of the first inning.
Darien Tubbs started the game with a single, which gave Memphis a leadoff base runner in the first inning for the first time in 11 games.
