STORRS, Conn. - Trailing by eight with just over six minutes to play in the game, the Memphis Tigers chipped away at the lead, and eventually took a one-point lead with just under a minute left in the game; however, the UConn Huskies drew a foul on the next possession, and then made six straight free throws to lead by five. Memphis once again fought back, and had a shot at the buzzer to tie the game fall just off the mark in an 81-78 Huskie win.
Shaq Goodwin, after being held to just four points in the first half due to foul trouble, erupted for 19 points in the second half, scoring 23 for the game, hitting 6-of-9 shots from the field and 11-of-12 from the charity stripe.
