M Club Honoree Bill Hudson Passes Away

MEMPHIS -- Bill Hudson, who was a stalwart in the offensive and defensive lines for former Tiger head coach Billy J. Murphy, passed away in Paris, Tenn., on March 2.

Hudson, a graduate of Grove High School, came to Memphis State University in the fall of 1958 and started for four seasons. He helped lead the Tigers to back-to-back 8-2 seasons in 1960 and 1961, playing with such noted players as James Earl Wright, Don Coffey, Fred Moore, Dennis Biodrowski and John Bramlett. Following his senior season, Hudson was selected to play in the Blue/Gray All-Star Game, the Senior Bowl and the Chicago All-Star Game before being selected in the second round of the NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers.
