Soccer fans in four U.S. cities have even more reason to dream of an MLS club coming to them.
The league on Wednesday announced four finalists for the next two cities that will be awarded franchises that will begin play by 2020.
The finalists are Cincinnati, Detroit, Nashville and Sacramento. Their representatives will make formal presentations to MLS commissioner Don Garber and the league’s expansion committee on Dec. 6 in New York.
Those four ownership groups were among 12 markets that submitted formal bids in January for four expansion slots as part of the league's expansion to 28 teams.
