The crackle of fireworks and the roar of 18,000 fans welcomed the MLS All-Star Game to San Jose Thursday. Supporters of both the American league stars and the opposing Arsenal side filled the stands from start to finish.
It was an exciting, loose match played by well-known players on both sides of the field. But in the end it was the cohesive play of Arsenal that proved the difference, scoring a deciding goal in the 87th minute to win 2-1.
But like most any All-Star game, it wasn’t about the result. It was about the wattage on the field.
