By defeating Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday night, the Dynamo put themselves in strong position to qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 2013.
With two games remaining in the regular season, the Dynamo are in fifth place with 46 points. They are three points ahead of sixth-place FC Dallas and four points ahead of Real Salt Lake and San Jose. The top six teams advance to the postseason.
The Dynamo (12-10-10) can clinch a playoff berth by beating Sporting KC on the road Sunday. They also would clinch regardless of their own result if RSL (at Colorado) and San Jose (at Vancouver) lose on Sunday.
