Dynamo have MLS' second-lowest total salary

The Dynamo have emerged as one of MLS' surprise teams early in 2017. They're doing it with one of the league's lowest salaries, too.

Houston's total salary ranks 21st out of 22 teams according to the MLS Players Union, which releases player salaries on a biennial basis. The only team below the Dynamo is D.C. United.

The Dynamo check in at $4.838 million for 27 players, an average of $179,185 per player.

Toronto FC, which plays host to the Dynamo on Friday night, has the league's highest total salary at $20.153 million. Toronto FC have three players who make more by themselves – Sebastian Giovinco, Jozy Altidore and Michael Bradley – than the Dynamo's 27 players combined.
