Slow start sends Niners to road loss

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Charlotte started slow and could never fully recover in dropping a 75-57 decision at UAB Saturday afternoon in Conference USA women’s basketball action in a clash of long-time rivals.

LEADERS
Freshman Grace Hunter continued to put up spectacular numbers for the 49ers with her third career double-double, all coming within the last four games, with 10 points and 13 rebounds to lead all players on the glass. She collected seven of her boards offensively, helping the Niners to a 15-to-14 edge on that side of the glass.

Senior Kira Gordon paced Charlotte (9-7, 2-3 C-USA) with 16 points, including 6-of-9 at the charity stripe, while junior Lefty Webster added 14 and senior Alexis Alexander chipped in 11 to give the Niners a quartet of double-digit scorers.
